Atlanta Native

Born and raised in North Buckhead, Jamie learned from a young age the importance of community, leadership, and service through her education at The Westminster Schools and competitive swimming at Dynamo Swim Club. Jamie attended The Westminster Schools from elementary through her graduation in 2013, and represented Dynamo Swim Club, eventually as a national-level swimmer, for over twelve years. Throughout her childhood, Jamie participated in service events through school, as well as leading swim clinics for younger children and community members through her swim club.

Collegiate Athlete

Jamie’s dedication to both her academics and athletics earned her a scholarship to study and continue her swimming career at the University of Southern California. During her time at USC, Jamie created a swim lessons program for underprivileged and minority children in the surrounding Los Angeles communities, and ultimately taught over one hundred children water safety and how to swim. Pursuing studies in both Psychology and French, Jamie graduated with Cum Laude honors in 2017 and elected to stay in Los Angeles to study law at Loyola Marymount University. Jamie credits much of her work ethic, discipline, and drive to her many years of competitive swimming.

Lawyer

Jamie’s passion for community service has always been at the forefront of her professional work. During her time studying law at Loyola Marymount University, Jamie eagerly accepted an opportunity to serve as an advocate for underprivileged and underrepresented citizens in the Los Angeles area. She resolved hundreds of cases acting as a mediator between citizens and their landlords, credit card companies, and banks. Jamie also worked with the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office in Long Beach, CA, fighting for victims and ensuring they received justice in court. Jamie was honored by her graduating law school class for the most volunteer hours, just a by-product of her passion for community engagement and service.

Local Community

After graduating law school in May 2020, Jamie felt a calling to move home and be close to family again, as many did during that time. Upon her return, Jamie witnessed riots, protests, and robberies throughout District 7 and was inspired to take action for her community. Jumping into action, Jamie volunteered as the Buckhead Public Safety Investigator under Councilman Howard Shook, apprising him of crime in the district and keeping safety at the forefront of District 7. Continuing her legal pursuits, Jamie accepted an opportunity to clerk for the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. She also joined a local young professional group where she fostered connections both within and outside of the District 7 area. Her service included multiple board member roles before being elected the current president.

Present Day

Jamie is an associate at Schreeder, Wheeler & Flint, LLP, a local law firm in Midtown, and is barred in three states: California, Georgia, and Florida. Her practice focuses on business disputes, bankruptcy, and some personal injury matters. Outside of the law office, Jamie loves to cook, try new restaurants, and swim competitively  – she competed at the Masters Swimming World Championships in Doha last year.

Jamie is excited to serve as a voice and advocate for District 7. She looks forward to engaging in conversation with fellow neighbors in District 7 and welcomes you to share any thoughts and concerns regarding District 7. A great team is the foundation of a strong community. Join the JCD7 team and vote Jamie Christy for Atlanta City Council District 7. Together we can take District 7 from good to great!
